Our Director, Emma Jovic and the Principal of our Space Business Unit, Kelly Barlow, attended the Australian Space Summit 2023 where they heard directly from space experts and industry professionals committed to advancing Australia’s space industry.
The summit included leaders in space technology, R&D, STEM, the defence industry, government, SMEs and new entrants to the space supply chain.
2023 was an interactive conference delivering insights and market intelligence to help better shape business decisions and provide topical information for the full breadth of the space sector.
Kerrin is the General Manager for EMA Advisory and brings over 15 years of experience in the Government and Public sector, specalising in providing advisory and support services in complex Commercial Management, Procurement, Program Management, Service Integration, Strategic Planning and Management Accounting.
Kerrin uses her strong commercial acumen and experience in Federal Government & Defence to design and then execute technology pathways via fit for purpose IT procurement strategies. With a focus on complex ICT issues, Kerrin has supported various agencies to redesign the ICT Procurement function to be an enabling and forward-thinking process which assists Government to achieve value for money commercial outcomes in rapidly developing IT environments. Kerrin delivers client outcomes by combining her qualifications in Procurement & Contracting, Finance and Data Management with her extensive knowledge in Strategic Planning, Commercial, Procurement, Service Delivery and Management Accounting.
Tony is highly experienced in Commonwealth procurement, commercial and financial management. Tony combines his qualifications in Economics & Financial management with his extensive commercial experience to assist clients by ensuring sourcing decisions align with and comply with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, PGPA Act, Departmental Procurement Policy Manuals and Complex Procurement Frameworks. Tony’s experience includes assisting in developing the ICTPA for Defence procurement.
Emma is the EMA Advisory founder & director. She has over 10 years’ experience as a commercial professional working in both contract advisory and commercial law roles within public and private sectors. She is experienced in drafting complex contract documentation, negotiating commercial limits, interacting with industry bodies and advising on legislative requirements. She is highly experienced in assisting ICT project teams to achieve their required commercial outcomes and ensuring the project is supported throughout the Capability Lifecycle.
In 2015, Emma was awarded an Australia Day Medallion by the Secretary for the Department of Health for her role supporting the public sale of Medibank Private on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Matthew has excellent commercial acumen and combined with his legal experience, assists him to understand legislation, policies/regulations and strategic documents quickly and effectively. Matthew has experience undertaking commercial reviews and procurement activities for Federal Government clients and combines with his highly developed analytical skills ensures strong commercial outcomes are achieved for his clients.
Throughout his career, Matthew has worked on strategic end-to-end procurements, commercial advisory, and contract management for both the Department of Defence and the Department of Home Affairs, particularly relating to establishing commercial arrangements for Microsoft, Amazon, Teradata, Oracle, VMWare, Splunk and Red Hat. He has a strong interest in ICT Procurements, and how various Agile methodologies can be used to strengthen Government Procurement processes.
David is a highly experienced commercial professional working across Procurement, Contract Management & Project Management roles to Government (State & Federal) as well as within the Private Sector. As an innovative and dynamic management professional, David has contributed to the successful delivery of a number of high-profile and complex technology and ICT based projects. David uses his commercial expertise to confidently drive and deliver ICT system development, upgrade, and support projects, along with facilitating the evaluation processes and contract negotiations.
Kelly is a highly experienced commercial and project management professional with a specific background in contract advisory for SATCOM acquisitions. Kelly is a PRINCE2 Practitioner and has supported both commercial and military satellite acquisitions. As a SATCOM subject matter expert, Kelly provides commercial and procurement advice throughout the duration of the space capability’s lifecycle.
In recognition of Kelly’s work, she received a personal letter of appreciation from Air Marshal WG McDonald, Chief of Joint Capabilities, in support of successfully representing Defence in rapid STACOM contract negotiations in April 2020.
Hugh has over 30 years’ experience as a Contract Manager supporting ICT Project Delivery across Federal Government and Defence. Hugh’s key attributes are his ability to effectively engage with all project stakeholders, to lead negotiations to successful outcomes, and to utilise his highly developed commercial acumen to ensure commercial opportunities are maximised.
Hugh has worked across Industry, Federal Government and Defence where he has gained exceptional and unique knowledge and skills with regards to contract management, negotiation, communication, strategic positioning and influencing outcomes. During his career Hugh has also worked across international jurisdictions, such as providing contract management for clients in South-East Asia.
Hugh currently provides commercial advice and support to EMA Advisory’s Federal Government space clients.
Linda has over 20 years’ experience in business administration and management, working across public and private sectors. She is experienced in preparing Tender responses, reviewing complex documentation and business requirements, negotiating mutually suitable outcomes, advising on, preparing, and implementing business strategies for growth and efficiencies.
Mark is an experienced ICT Project Manager, with a passion for Defence projects and Space Capability projects. During Mark’s engagements with Defence Projects during his career, he has solidified his Project Management skills within the Defence environment, particularly leadership and communication, to ensure the successful delivery of Defence capability as it relates to his engagements.
Mark has assisted in developing and maintaining project artifacts required to prepare the project through Gate 0 to Gate 2 processes. This included developing business cases, specifications, project scope and schedules, project execution strategy documentation, budgets, approach to market and evaluation documentation. Mark is an excellent communicator and leader.
